Do you go to knit night? Sarah and I go as often as we can to the Shall We Knit? knit night, but because it is on Friday night we don’t always make it. But a couple of weeks ago, after handling the first week of back to school we decided that we were deserving of a Friday night off, so packed up the knitting and off we went. There were a good number of knitters hanging about, including Anne Hanson, who was going to be attending the Knitter’s Fair, speaking at our opening Guild meeting and also teaching a couple of classes at Shall We Knit while she was in town. I didn’t get to chat with her, as there were a number of other knitters already at her table, but I must admit I did listen in as she talked about the sweater she was working on – pretty sure it’s this one. Also, it’s a little shy-making to hear someone like Anne speak about texture and form and lace and where she gets her inspiration for her designs when she makes things like this, and my inspiration comes from things like comics and people’s Kawaii Flickr pictures and out of my own disturbed dreams, and my head comes up with stuff like this. Don’t get me wrong – I think there is room in the world for all kinds of artistic expression, and I don’t consider one kind to be above another – BUT. Mine is a lot goofier, you must admit. At any rate it was a lovely evening and at the end I had finished the project I’d brought with me (yay!) and all was well. I didn’t really give it another thought, until I saw this. ACK!! My monsters are on Anne’s Blog! She took their picture while she was at Shall We Knit! Well! It’s nice to know that even famous knit wear designers with very serious designs can appreciate a good monster. Thanks Anne!
