Hello bloggy readers! All technical computer type issues with the Joeys’ House computer have been fixed, and we are back in the world of the connected. Please note that by “fixed” I mean that we went out and bought a new one. The old one, more of a paper weight than a computer now.
A knitting update? Why sure! The fishy mitts are done:
Not quite in time for the NaKniMitMo deadline of Jan 31, but that’s ok. These are Spillyjane’s Swedish Fish Mitts(Rav link). Knit in Elann Sock It to Me in Coffee Bean, and Regia Nation colours in one of the now discontinued (I think?) Canada Colours. Not a single mod to the pattern (weird, I know), knit it just as written. Were I to knit it again? I’d make the cuff at least 1 fish repeat longer (I like a long cuff – these don’t really stay tucked in) and I’d fudge up a gusset thumb. It was fun learning how to do the peasant thumb, a new thing for me, but I don’t like the fit, so wouldn’t likely do it again. Still though, I heart the fishies!
I’ve also finished the socks I have been working on for my mom. I’d been putting these off because I wasn’t thrilled with the rather dull colours, and things are dull enough around here in the winter without knitting dull yarn. But mom picked it out, and bought it, so there was no getting around it. In an attempt to get a little more involved with these socks I decided to try out a pattern idea I’ve had in my head for a while now. The result?
Stripey socks with a little cable action down each side. Nice. Pattern will be coming along shortly!
After knitting up the dull blue socks I needed some brightness. I had a skein of some really bright hand dye hanging around that my friend Brenda had claimed needed to be socks for her.
So I spent a good amount of time nosing around Ravelry searching out patterns. I was rather concerned that this yarn was going to pool, flash, and make all manner of unsightly patterns.
Ok. So maybe not.
