Miss Punky started back to school last week, and I must say it was crazy! The first day was crazy, getting her to her room, meeting the teacher, all that. The rest of the week was just as crazy, since I had a huge list of stuff that I had been putting off until school started. I must say, I’m glad it’s all done.
I have been knitting away too, but I can’t show you 2 of the projects since they are Christmas gifts. One is completed (yay!! first finished holiday knitting!!), the other… well, it is going to take a while.
I can, however, show you these
Mitts for my friend to wear while taking care of her horses. They are just my generic plain-ol’-mitten pattern, knit at a pretty tight gauge on 3mm needles using this yarn:
Briggs and Little Regal base, kettle dyed by me some time ago. Briggs is not a super soft yarn (although I hear they have a new softer one coming soon), but it is a good warm one and makes great mitts. I would normally use up to a 4mm needle for this yarn, but I wanted these to be really warm. It’s a bit tough on the hands though. I really like how thick the fabric feels, so it is worth it this time. And I am really pleased with how the colours look when knit up.
I wasn’t thrilled with this yarn when it came out of the pot. I like it much better now.
I have another toy pattern ready for you all to see – but it will have to wait until tomorrow! Don’t you just love a surprise?
