So awhile ago I posted a boring picture about a baby sweater in progress. Well, the sweater is done:
Pattern: Elizabeth Zimmerman’s February baby Sweater on two needles from Knitter’s Almanac. I did not change a thing, but next time I would space out the buttons a bit more and maybe make the body a smidge longer.
Yarn: Mission Falls 1824 Wool in colour 532 (that’d be green). Love this stuff! Soft, and squishy and washable – everything a new baby and new mama need!
And since new mama is cloth diapering I also made up a little soaker for her.
Pattern: Free Curly Purly Soaker pattern. I used 2 strands of self striping sock yarn held together, so I didn’t quite get the gauge the pattern recommends. Still, it was easy enough to fudge the numbers to make what would be considered the “Extra Large” size if it was knit in worsted weight yarn. Made up in Sock weight I think it will fit pretty soon.
Yarn: I used 3 different yarns for this soaker, all from my leftover collection: for the waist and leg cuffs I used Trekking XXL in colour 100 along with Fortissima Socka in colour 9096. The main body is the same Fortissima, held along with Austermann Step colour 05.
And the baby is done too! Mama went into labour just as I was sewing the buttons on the sweater. We got to meet the new arrival for the first time last night. He is one cute little guy, and going to look very handsome in his knitwear come fall. Need some baby cute today? Sure you do!
Two week old baby feet, not yet ruined by things like walking and shoes!
Don’tcha just want to eat them up?
